K-12 EDUCATION

K–12 education in the greater Albuquerque region is a large and diverse system anchored by Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), the state’s largest district, serving roughly 65,000 students across more than 140 schools. APS provides a wide range of learning options, including neighborhood schools, magnet programs, charter schools, career and technical education, and college readiness pathways.

Surrounding APS are several key districts—including Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, Bernalillo, Belen, and Moriarty-Edgewood—that serve the broader metro and commuter communities. Together, these districts support a growing and highly connected regional education system.
